The leading NAS provider QNAP Systems, Inc. has released the brand new 2.0.0 firmware and the world's first P2P remote control software QGet, for the award-winning Turbo Station NAS servers TS-101 and TS-201. As the CEO of QNAP, Mr. Meiji CHANG says, in addition to the powerful 9-in-1 functions that TS servers possess, further new features are added to the new firmware. Since the cooperation between QNAP and BitTorrent, Inc., the performance of BT download is further enhanced. This accomplishes QNAP’s aims to develop products for home digital entertainment center and let the customers enjoy convenient management of their downloaded data.
In the latest TS-101/201 2.0.0 firmware, FTP and HTTP downloads are added to the web-based P2P Download Station. Users can now perform BT, FTP and HTTP downloads altogether by TS-101/201 independent of any PC. UPnP NAT automatic port forwarding is also supported to increase download speed to a large extent. When the Turbo Station is placed behind an NAT router, users can activate the UPnP function of their NAT router and enjoy high-speed BT download. Along with the new firmware, QNAP unveils the breakthrough software “QGet” for remote P2P download management of NAS servers. QGet, unbelievably easy but powerful, can centrally manage BT, FTP and HTTP download tasks for all supported NAS servers at the same time without any complicated set up or configurations. The built-in UPnP media server of new TS firmware is updated to TwonkyMedia version 4.2 to enable users to freely set up a multimedia entertainment center. Users can play the multimedia files, e.g. mp3, video and photos saved on TS servers on TV or Hi-Fi system via DLNA compliant media players. Furthermore, iTunes server is implemented in the new firmware for users to share the files on TS servers with others on LAN and play the files by iTunes installed on any computer.
